Picture a crumbling stone wall reclaimed by time: weathered ledges, shadowed caves, and worn passages carved into a face of ancient ruin. The Ruinspire background panel turns the back wall of a terrarium into a layered ruin landscape, giving climbing species room to explore and giving keepers a natural canvas for moss, plants, and hardscape. It reads as a forgotten temple wall, quietly dramatic behind your animals and greenery.
📜 Full Product Description
Ruinspire is a sculpted background panel inspired by weathered ruin architecture, designed by novYTerra. The surface carries a realistic aged-stone texture across multiple levels, with built-in caves, ledges, and open passages that create real depth rather than a flat printed backdrop. Mounted against the rear wall of an enclosure, it draws the eye inward and makes even a modest habitat feel deeper and more three dimensional.
The stepped platforms and recesses double as functional terrain. Climbing and ground species can use the ledges and passages to move and shelter, and the crevices are natural pockets for tucking in cushion moss, small tropical plants, or bits of hardscape so the panel blends into a planted layout over time. The ruin styling suits tropical, subtropical, and humid terrariums, as well as fantasy-themed vivariums and diorama display.
Openings and cave sizes vary across the panel. Please compare every opening, ledge, and passage against the size and climbing behavior of your specific animals before use, and confirm the overall panel dimensions fit your enclosure. Final measurements and available sizes are listed below.

🧱 Material Options
💧 PETG Aquarium Version
Any version intended to be submerged in an aquarium is printed in PETG and supplied completely unpainted. CurioPrinta uses PETG for submerged decor rather than standard PLA because PETG is better suited to prolonged exposure to water. PETG aquarium panels are printed at a higher infill density to help resist buoyancy. This is the material we choose for underwater use; it is not a guarantee that the piece is permanently waterproof, indestructible, chemically inert, or suitable for every aquatic species.
🎲 PLA Dry-Display Version
A PLA version is offered for dry use only: tabletop gaming, dioramas, shelf display, and general home decor. PLA versions are not recommended for submerged aquarium use. Please do not place a PLA panel underwater.
🛠️ Setup, Use, and Care
This section covers aquarium and terrarium use together. Follow the points that apply to your habitat, and always let species-specific husbandry guidance from a qualified source take priority over general product suggestions.
Before You Install
Inspect the panel and lightly smooth any stray print strings or rough spots if needed.
Rinse thoroughly with clean water. Do not use soaps, detergents, household cleaners, or unapproved chemical treatments.
For aquarium use, an optional soak in tank water for 24 to 48 hours can help equalize temperature before placement.
Placement
Confirm that caves, ledges, and passages are appropriately sized for the animals in your habitat and their adult size.
Position the panel securely so it cannot shift, tip, collapse, trap an animal, or press against the enclosure glass.
In terrariums, keep the panel away from high-output heat lamps, heating elements, open flames, and other intense heat sources. It is not heat-proof.
Introduce any new decoration thoughtfully and observe your animals after installation.
Ongoing Care
Check the panel periodically as part of normal maintenance for wear, damage, trapped waste, or areas that are hard to clean.
Remove the item if it becomes damaged, develops sharp areas, or no longer fits securely.
Cleaning
Submerged PETG: rinse with clean water and use a soft brush when needed. Avoid soaps, bleach, solvents, abrasive cleaners, boiling water, dishwashers, and high-temperature cleaning. Let it dry fully before long-term storage.
Dry terrarium or display: dust with a soft brush or cloth, use a lightly damp cloth when appropriate, and keep away from intense heat.
📐 Dimensions
Approximate dimensions, imperial first with metric in parentheses (Length x Width x Height). Weights are approximate and vary by material, since submerged PETG panels are printed at a higher infill density than dry-display PLA.
Size 1 Dimensions: 5.9 x 3.9 x 1.7 in (150 x 100 x 43 mm)
Size 2 Dimensions: 5.7 x 8.4 x 2.5 in (145 x 213 x 63 mm)
Size 3 Dimensions: 7.5 x 7.5 x 3.3 in (190 x 190 x 83 mm)
Size XL Dimensions: 8.7 x 13.1 x 3.8 in (220 x 333 x 96 mm)
Because each item is individually 3D printed, minor dimensional variation may occur.
🎨 Color and Appearance
Any color in the color chart is available. For the most convincing wet-rock and aged-stone look, we suggest darker or muted tones such as grey, black, midnight, coffee brown, roasted chestnut, chocolate, oak, or olive green. Brighter colors are there if you want a bolder, stylized piece.
Panels print in a single solid color and are not painted. Actual color can vary with lighting, photography, monitor settings, and filament batches, and may look different submerged or under habitat lighting. A natural look comes from choosing the right filament color rather than from paint. Exact color matching is not guaranteed.
🖨️ About 3D Printing
This piece is made with FDM 3D printing. Fine layer lines, small seams, slight texture shifts, and support-contact marks in recessed areas are normal traits of the process, not defects, and make each print slightly unique. Every item is individually produced rather than injection molded.
📬 Made to Order
Each piece is printed individually, so minor differences are normal.

⚠️ Safety and Compatibility
This is decorative habitat décor, not a toy. You are responsible for deciding whether the size, material, openings, surfaces, and placement suit your animals and habitat. Do not let animals chew or ingest the material, and remove the piece if it is damaged, as broken pieces may be a hazard. CurioPrinta cannot account for every species, behavior, enclosure, water chemistry, temperature, or maintenance routine, so please use your own judgment.
🚫 What Is Not Included
Plants, substrate, rocks, animals, enclosures, and lighting shown in photos are not included.
❓ FAQ
Does it come painted?
No. Every panel ships unpainted and unfinished in a single solid color. Painted examples in the photos show what is possible with your own finishing.
Can it go underwater?
A submerged PETG version can. PLA versions should never be submerged.
Can I order it in PLA?
Yes, for dry use only: dioramas, tabletop, shelf, and home décor.
Can I paint it myself?
Yes, at your discretion for dry display. For any live-animal habitat, any coating must be independently researched and confirmed suitable for your species and environment. Painting is not recommended for submerged use.
Will it match the photos exactly?
It will be close, but color and texture vary slightly with lighting, filament batches, monitors, and the printing process.
Is it right for my specific animal?
That depends on your animal and setup. Compare the dimensions and openings to your species' size and behavior. Compatibility is not guaranteed.
